Why not to put it off
A tooth has neighbours and a partner in the opposite jaw, and they all lean on one another. When one goes missing the others move into the space, the load is redistributed, and the bone in that spot recedes over time. That is why a replacement is planned as soon as the wound has healed.
What the options are
- A bridge: rests on the neighbouring teeth, is fixed, and requires them to be prepared.
- A replacement on an implant: does not touch the neighbouring teeth, needs enough bone and a longer course of treatment.
- A partial or cast denture, when several teeth are missing or a fixed solution is not possible.
Which option is yours becomes clear after an examination and an X-ray: we look at the state of the neighbouring teeth, the bone and the bite. We have also explained the difference between a bridge and an implant in articles on the blog.
What we do
At the first appointment you get a plan with the options and the prices, with no obligation. Preparation starts only once you have chosen.
